Congenital duplication of the anterior segment with central hamartomatous plaque.

چکیده
A child born of a full-term pregnancy had unilateral splitting of the anterior segment of the right eye associated with choristoma. No other craniofacial abnormalitieswere found. The globe was slightly increased in size but was normal in shape. The 2 corneas were separated by a choristoma. Pathological examination revealed splitting of the anterior segment with 2 corneas, 2 lenses, and 2 irides. Only 1 posterior segment was observed, including a hematic vitreous associated with a dysmorphic retina. As diplophthalmos, this congenital malformation may be induced by primary optic vesicle development disturbance.

Treatment of the Mirror Foot with Central Ray Resection: Report of 2 Cases
The mirror foot is a rare congenital foot anomaly which is often associated with 6- to 8-toed polydactyly. Postaxial polydactyly is the most common form of this anomaly, while central polydactyly is seen infrequently. We report on 2 cases of the central mirror-foot anomaly. Calcaneus duplication and fibular hypoplasia were present in 1 case. We treated both patients by resecting the middle foot...
متن کاملNovel and recurrent PITX3 mutations in Belgian families with autosomal dominant congenital cataract and anterior segment dysgenesis have similar phenotypic and functional characteristics
BACKGROUND Congenital cataracts are clinically and genetically heterogeneous with more than 45 known loci and 38 identified genes. They can occur as isolated defects or in association with anterior segment developmental anomalies. One of the disease genes for congenital cataract with or without anterior segment dysgenesis (ASD) is PITX3, encoding a transcription factor with a crucial role in le...
متن کاملAnterior segment mesenchymal dysgenesis in a large Australian family is associated with the recurrent 17 bp duplication in PITX3
PURPOSE A recurrent 17 bp duplication (c.657ins17bp) of a segment of the paired-like homeodomain transcription factor 3 (PITX3) gene on human chromosome 10 has been reported in seven families with autosomal dominant posterior polar cataracts with or without anterior segment mesenchymal dysgenesis (ASMD). ASMD can include Peters anomaly with corneal clouding, iridolenticular corneal adhesions, d...
متن کاملRefractive Error and Anterior Segment Parametric Changes in Patients with Posterior Capsular Opacification after Nd: YAG Laser Posterior Capsulotomy
Background and Objective: Cataract is one of the most common causes of blindness in the world, and posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is the most common complication after cataract surgery. Nd: YAG laser posterior capsulotomy is a standard method for the treatment of PCO. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Yas laser capsulotomy on anterior segment parameters and lenticu...
متن کاملNovel Presentation of Complete Coronal Urethral Duplication: a Case Report
Urethralduplication is a rare condition occurs as a congenital malformation either independently or in the setting of other congenital malformations such as caudal duplication syndrome. Its prevalence becomes even rarer if it manifests as two side-by-side tracts in coronal plan.Nonetheless, we introduce a unique presentation of complete coronal urethral duplication accompanied by astoundin...
